In the early 80s, Joji Hirota founded ‘ Joji Hirota & London Taiko Drummers’
Now as a highly regarded and well established Japanese traditional and contemporary taiko drumming group.
They have performed at worldwide concerts and international festival including WOMAD, Bruges, Interparla, Sibiu Festivals as well as many others in the UK, Europe, Middle East and Asia.
Joji Hirota and The London Taiko Drummers was the opening act for the Live Earth concert at Wembley Stadium.
They continue to perform and tour world wide and also recently appeared on BBC TV @ The One Show.

Thames Daiko is one of Joji Hirota’s Taiko drumming group. With a multicultural and international member set, their first public performance was for the Thames Festival in London from which the group name originated. The group conveys the themes of Purity and Fun in their music, and with the backing of the UK Japanese Embassy has a strong and growing fan base.
Under Hirota’s tutelage Thames Daiko have performed in various events including for the opening of the new Scramble Crossing at Oxford Circus in London, and Japanese Matsuri Festival in London, BBC TV and many more of the corporate events
