Japan Matsuri Presents… The Wind from Ru-a: Performance from Okazaki, Japan

This work takes inspiration from the Ryukyu Kingdom (Okinawa), which has a long history.
The costume uses a Bingata pattern unique to Okinawa, and the cloth represents the tropical sea that surrounds Okinawa.
At its heart, the piece is a physical manifestation of the wish to rebuild Shurijo Castle, which was completely destroyed in October 2019.

Concept:Rina Wako
Music:Mina Mermoud
Dance:Chukyo University Dance club
Both Rina and Mina are members of the Okinawa Sanshinkai, who usually perform at Japan Matsuri when it takes place in trafalgar square.
